Welcome to California Yoga Center


California Yoga Center has been offering yoga for all ages and abilities since 1980. We offer yoga classes and workshops in the Iyengar tradition, with studios in Mountain View and Palo Alto.

This vigorous approach emphasizes a balance between strength and flexibility while building endurance. It develops self-awareness through precision in movement and attention to subtle aspects of posture and breath. CYC teachers modify postures to encourage students to develop a deeper awareness and steadiness in the classic postures.

CYC class packages now have a one-year expiration date. You can still share the package with spouses, friends and family. Ask about sharing when you buy.

The new Mountain View center has a larger, fully-equipped yoga studio, including a full rope wall. Ropes help students to deepen their yoga poses, and ropes can have therapeutic value for students with back care and other challenges.

Using our new online scheduling system, students can purchase class packages for Mountain View and register for all workshops.

June 8
Restorative Yoga with Ann Merlo
Session will focus on restorative yoga to help alleviate pain, strain and frequency of headaches. Also useful for stress reduction.

June 22
Yoga for Jaw Tension with Cator Shachoy
Jaw Tension and TMJ or TMD (Temporal Mandibular Joint Dysfunction) is a very common and often painful condition. Cator is an Iyengar yoga and mindfulness meditation teacher and a craniosacral practitioner. She developed this workshop based on work to relieve jaw tension.

Yoga for the Subtle Body with Cator Shachoy
When we tune into the subtle energies of the body, we can learn to hold yoga poses with less effort and more ease. The experience and understanding of the cranial wave and its impact on physiology can invite us into a deeper relationship of body and mind. This workshop includes lecture/discussion, hands on partnered bodywork, pranayama and asana.
