Ann Merlo Ann Merlo has taught yoga since 1993. She is a graduate of the Advanced Studies Program at The Yoga Room in Berkeley and is a Yoga Alliance Registered Teacher. She is also certified in Pilates fundamentals and mat work. Ann offers private yoga instruction and is a guest instructor at Stanford University.

Birgit Reimer studied for 10 years with Ben Thomas and has traveled to Pune, India, to study with the Iyengar family. In March 2013 she received a yoga for scoliosis certificate through Elise B. Miller's teacher training for scoliosis program. Birgit teaches asana, pranayama, meditation, and yoga nidra classes at CYC and other Bay area yoga studios. Her background in medical Qi Gong, energy work, Reiki and Zen meditation contributes to well-balanced and harmonious classes. Email or her Web Site
Candy Emory has taught yoga since 1995 and practiced yoga since 1980. A student of Larry Hatlett, she has also trained in the Advanced Studies Program at The Yoga Room in Berkeley. Candy's classes are calm and gentle, as well as challenging. Keeping in mind specific, individual needs, she gives attention to each student.

Diane Milner Diane Milner has practiced Iyengar Yoga since the mid-1980's and is a graduate of the Yoga Educational Seminar teacher training program. Active in golf and master swimming, Diane's classes focus on easing the effects of overuse and imbalance whether in sports or daily life. She also teaches yoga in several Peninsula community and health club programs.

Elise Miller Elise Miller has taught yoga since 1973 and is a certified senior Iyengar teacher. She is on the faculty of the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco, is a published author and a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher. She studies in India with B.K.S. Iyengar and Geeta Iyengar regularly. Johanna Claassen Johanna Claassen started teaching yoga in 2004. She is a graduate of the Iyengar Institute in San Francisco (2008). A practitioner since 1984 in her home country Germany, Johanna holds certifications in YogaEd., YogaTuneUp, Pilates and Somatics. Johanna's classes demonstrate her joy in the practice of yoga and in connecting and sharing her knowledge with her students. Email
Larry Hatlett Larry Hatlett, founder of The Yoga Center of Palo Alto, has been teaching yoga since 1970. He received an Advanced Yoga Teaching Certificate from B.K.S. Iyengar in 1983 after studying extensively with him in India through the 1970s and 1980s. He has trained many teachers and developed many innovative yoga practices. Lily Anne Hillis Lily Anne Hillis has taught yoga since 1990. Lily's passion and enthusiasm for yoga, for her students, and for life comes through in every class she teaches. Lisa Brill Robinson Lisa Brill Robinson is a graduate of the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco and has taught yoga since 1989. Her yoga practice and a B.A. in dance lend to the creative and energetic nature of her classes. Lisa offers private instruction, and specializes in working with pregnant women.

Lolly Font Lolly Font, former director of California Yoga Center, is a certified Iyengar teacher and holds M.A. degrees in Education and Transpersonal Psychology. She recovered from arthritis through her yoga practice. Her classes are challenging, energizing and unfold creatively in response to the problems and conditions students bring.

Lori Neumann began practicing yoga in 2001 with Elise Miller to help resolve sciatica and chronic lower back pain that was the result of decades of working in high tech. A dedicated practice helped resolve these issues plus shoulder and neck problems. Grateful for the practice and the improvements to her health, she decided to become an instructor to help others with similar issues. She is a graduate of the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco and has studied Ashtanga yoga in India. Email
Mimm Patterson Mimm Patterson has taught Iyengar based yoga since 1994 under the guidance of Larry Hatlett and Karl Duffy. She continued her study of Iyengar Yoga at the Yoga Teacher Training Center in Newry, Northern Ireland. In 2010 she completed Paul Grilley's Yin Teacher Training and now offers strong alignment focused flow classes as well as challenging Yin sessions. Mimm is also a bodywork therapist and Reiki practitioner with twelve years experience. She has studied anatomy with Gil Hedley and brings a strong understanding of body mechanics to her classes.

Richard Weinapple has been a dedicated, passionate, and joyful practitioner of yoga for 30 years. A student of Larry Hatlett since 1987, Richard trained in yoga instruction and philosophy at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco and at the Yoga Room in Berkeley, and has completed an intensive yoga teacher training with Tony Briggs at the Yoga Loft in San Francisco. Richard's classes are strongly influenced by 35 years of karate practice, during which he earned a Sandan (3rd degree black belt) granted by Sensei Tsutomu Ohshima of Shotokan Karate of America. Richard is an ardent mountaineer and outdoor guide.

Rose Richardson Rosie Richardson has been practicing Iyengar yoga since 1995. She completed the 500-hour teacher training program at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco in 2009, and recently returned from studying with the Iyengar family in India. Rosie teaches private classes in addition to the public classes here at the CYC. She is an enthusiastic hiker and road cyclist. Email

Simin Vakilzadeh has been practicing yoga since 1991 and is an Iyengar-certified Intermediate instructor. She studied in Pune, India with Geeta and Prashant Iyengar in 2008. Simin recently moved to the Bay area from Chicago where she had been teaching at the Yoga Circle and Evanston Yoga Tree. Her sense of humor and desire to help others ignites her passion to teach the art and philosophy of Iyengar Yoga.

Terry Lesser Terry Lesser has practiced yoga since the mid-1980's and began teaching in 1995. She has been practicing mindfulness meditation in the Buddhist Vipassana tradition since 1992, and is a graduate of the Community Dharma Leader program at Spirit Rock Meditation Center. Vera Popova Vera Popova graduated from the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco and has been teaching since 2005. Vera's classes are energetic, thoughtful and give special attention to proper body alignment to help students on and off the yoga mat. Students who have never done yoga before, and those already practicing enjoy the experience, challenge, and aproach in her classes.
